Wednesday the 17th - I had the best sleep! I woke up refreshed! I took my BP and it seemed to be good, but I thought that I better call the Doctor. When they called me back, they said that the Doctor wanted me to bring my bag, because he may induce. Well my appointment was at 2:45. By the time I got to my appointment I was bleeding. The Bloody Show! I never had this before either. So, when I got to the Doctors office; they called me back! My BP was 140/102!!! They sent me to delivery!!
I got up there around 3:15. I got in my gown and they came in to check my cervix! I was still 4cm and 90% effaced. They gave me my IV line. The nurse had to still me twice. They gave me a bag of fluids and the antibiotic for the StrepB. The doctor wanted them to check my urine and it was +1. At 6:20, they started the Oxytosin. But, I forgot to mention that I was having contractions on my own. I was in the early stages. Well, I was feeling pretty good. The contractions weren’t that bad. The doctor came in and checked my around 8:00 and I was still 4cm, but I was now effaced 100%. So, he decided to break my water. They then put the fetal monitors on the baby’s head. For some reason the baby’s heart rate was all over the place again. One of the charge nurses came in and told my nurse that this isn’t uncommon. The baby has a heart murmur and that is why the heart rate is everywhere. I started to get a little scared and she told me that she has only ever seen one baby have problems in the 12 years she had been doing this. At 9:30 they came in to give me my epi!! I wasn’t in that much pain yet, but I figured since he was here! LOL
Well, he had to hit me 3 times!!!! He hit bone twice! This was the same man I had 5 years ago! I loved him then! I wasn’t so happy with him this time!! Well, they upped my oxytocin and things really started to progress! This time things were different! Now when you get an epi, they don’t numb your crotch!!! They told me that they only numb the uterus! I said WHAT?!?! They said that this way you know when you have pressure and when you have to push! Yes! And you also feel every contraction!!!! I had to breath through everyone!! I had such pain in my crotch! I just couldn’t believe it! Finally the one nurse asked me if I had to push and I said No! They had me lying on my side, because the epi wasn’t going down the one side of my uterus! She told me to flip over to my back! She then asked me it I had to push and I said YES!!!! They called for the Doctor! It was funny! He came in the room rubbing his eyes and he had his glasses in his hands and he said, “Did someone call me?â€Â. My nurse said, “Yes, She is ready to push!†Well, I started pushing! I think pushed about 4 times when he told me that I only needed to push one more time! Well, he almost got called a liar when he told me that I needed to push again! One more!!! And....
Thursday the 18th - At exactly 12:00am Miss Alivia Diane was born!! The nurses told me that I could pick the 17th or the 18th! I choose the 18th!! She was 6lbs. 15oz. and 20 inches long! She has a lot of brownish red hair; brown eyes and I think the poor baby’s going to have her fathers nose! After she was born they stitched me up! I ripped at the front and the back! OUCH! But, the one thing that I never got to experience with my other two, I got to pull her out and onto my chest!! My husband sat there holding her while I ate like a starving woman!! Boy, that Ham sandwich they gave me was wonderful!! My husband the funny man he is, looked at me and said, “I’m the man who said he was never getting married and here I sit the father of 3 GIRLS!! We both think GOD has a sick sense of humor!! LOL
All in All, It was a great L&D! I was only in active labor for 5 hours and 40 minutes!!! That sure beats the 12 1/2 hours with my 1st! And I ended up with a c-section with her! The 181/2 hours with my 2nd!
