ah! peri nurse has answers

Postby jjbeck1 » Mon Jan 19, 2004 12:27 am

My peri's nurse called me today re med refill.
She asked how it was going being off of the remeron. I told her I have been very sick and vomiting all weekend. ( I have hyperemesis ) and asked her about my bp again and at what point would they put me on meds. She replyed when I had consistent highs. I asked what does she consider high. She said well you have have had some highs and lows. I have only had ONE norm reading since oct.
Anyway, she would not give me a number which they considered high and asked if I set up counsiling with a social worker and that she felt everything would get better if I got counciling. The nausea and vomiting, my blood pressure, everything.
And to think, I was actually considering going all the way to Yale, when all I really need is a social worker!
( that was sarcasim)

LOL

So sorry you're going through this. Just one more thing ontop of everything else. Did you ever hear back from that doctor you were hoping would call? Or his office? I don't remember exactly.

Hang in there

What a cow! Grr! That's so awful- when men get hypertension, do they try to refer them to social workers or shrinks? I don't think so!

So, when's your appointment at Yale? (she says hopefully...[;)])

No I have not heard back. But I am going to get a copy of my readings on wed and try to shcedule an appt with my caridologist. She is very familiar with pg related disorders. I would feel much more comfortable with what she has to say.
The nurse did tell me if the cariologist felt I she be on meds, they would respect that.

You know Laura, that's another thing. Bob's doctor put him on meds when his bp was only mildly elevated. What is the deal with that?
I just don't get it. Some of the data I read on hypertension during pg is that meds can actually help prevent pre e.
So why would a peri opt not to put a patient on meds?

Jen,
That is ridiculous! I cannot believe that nurse said that - especially a peri's nurse. I hope that you will be able to be seen at Yale. It is a really good facility. Are you close to that area? I grew up in Massachusetts and my sister graduated from Yale so I guess I am firmiliar with the area [:)]
Take care and rest a lot!!!

Hugs,
Suz

Southern Vermont - Close to Massachusetts.
I don't know that I feel comfy giving out specifics on the computer - I am funny that way ... or shall I say paranoid? LOL

Oh my gosh, all this time I have tried to figure out how I can prevent preeclampsia from happening to me again... A social worker, who would've known it's be as easy as that...

Sorry about that call, that had to send your bp up right there... Let us know what your cardiologist has to say!
