Question....

I have heard conflicting stories on this.

If you are on BP meds, I know that will 'mask' the high BP obviously. However, I want to know if you will still spill protein in your urine being on BP meds?? Always, not always?!?!

I think that once the kidneys start spilling protein, they are damaged and they need some time to recover. If you don't spill anymore protein, this is a very good sign - that kidneys are ok -, but spilling some more protein is not necessarily a bad sign... The high BP is the most important factor that affects the kidneys, so a lower BP will always benefit the kidneys and help them recover faster.

Not a doctor here, just an opinion.

I think one of our docs sort of took exception to the term "mask" here in an expert's post:

I think the logic follows, the bp is reduced, so the pressure on the kidneys is reduced, so the proteinuria is reduced- which, according to some theories of PE are very, very good things.
