I had a feeling she might stay in the hospital. I think that's the safest place. I hope she doesn't have to have the mag (a.k.a "flu in a bag") as it's no fun but if it keeps her and the baby safe, it is what's best. Please KUP!

Thanks for the update. I am glad she is getting good care and that you are both very well informed about what is going on and why. I consider that a major victory for one of our members. Take care of yourself and get extra sleep--suspect you will be needing it very soon.

What a relief that she will be monitored in the hospital. Please let us know how things progress.

I too am glad they are keeping her in the hospital, she is just too far along to risk anything now. We are thinking about you and Kelly!

I'm very relieved they're keeping Kelly in. It sounds as though you'll be holding that new baby pretty soon.

We spoke to the OB this afternoon and they are going to keep her in the hospital until delivery. They are also adjusting her Aldomet to 500 mg twice a day to see if that works better. I guess we will find out tonight.

She is still in the hospital and still has not had the baby. Her BP went up again last night and they started an IV in case she needed Mag Sulfate.

I am concerned about them letting her come home. Her BP is spiking every night to the point that they feel the need to have Mag Sulfate ready to go at a moment's notice -- and this is with her laying in bed all day. She will be more active at home and will not get that level of rest, so her BP will likely be higher. I would think that it is pretty risky to send her home when they know this is her condition even if her blood and urine tests look good. Also, to my knowledge, they are not even testing her reflexes.

Hopefully I will be able to speak to the OB today and will have more to share.

Good luck to all of you. I know it was very frustrating for me with my 2nd pregnancy. As a person with chronic hypertension, they let my numbers get a LOT higher before they decided to deliver than they would have any other woman without chronic hypertension. My protein was actually 2500 with pressures of 160/90 consistently before they decided to deliver at 36 weeks, 6 days. My MFM, who I really liked and is very well-respected in our large urban community, said that it's a whole different ball game with chronic HTN. It made me nervous as a cat though!

Robyn
Allan 10-2-03 @ 28 weeks due to severe PE
Jacob 1-1-06 @ 37 weeks w/chronic hypertension and GD (I was considered super-imposed PIH, never ever called PE this time)
