Congrats!! What a cutie pie. Wishing you a speedy recovery!

My bp was worse after delivery and it took about 6 weeks to resolve it.

YEAH EMILY!!! Congratulations on the arrival of MiKai, he is adorable :-) Beth & I were just talking about you this morning and wondering how things went for you, so I will have to tell her your awesome news.
I am so sorry to hear that you had a rough time after delivery. Hopefully, things will return to normal soon for your body.
Beth battled some pp-pe swelling and vision issues for about 9 day after delivery. Thankfully, most of those issues have resolved and her bp is now under control on meds. Our little man Drake is still in the NICU, but he is getting better each day and will move to the graduate nursery tommorrow, if all goes well. He is still on oxygen but other than that he is perfect...
Congrats again, I am so happy for you and your family

Emily,
just to concur that you should definitely bring up all your continuing symptoms with your OB and get yourself in quicker if they worsen or develop.
Congratulations on a term mag-free birth: what a gorgeous munchkin you have there.

Emily, congratulations. He's just adorable.
It's not unusual for your bp to stay elevated for a while postpartum, especially after labor -- the thinking these days is that the soluble factors that cause PE are also the ones that cause the placenta to detach postpartum. They get produced when the placenta runs short on oxygen, which happens during labor.
It may take up to a few months for your body to completely repair the damage from pregnancy, or it may never resolve and you may end up being diagnosed with chronic hypertension. You'll have to keep monitoring your bp and see how things go.
As Sonia says, postpartum PE is still a concern for about six weeks, and you'll want to keep an eye out for bad headaches, visual disturbances, and the like.
Welcome Earthside, MiKai!
