Now that you are 7 weeks pp you might be better off addressing these symptoms with your GP or internist, or even the doc that manages your thyroid. Weather not withstanding you may just be dealing with a BP issue that will need longer and better management than you anticipated. Some of our chronic chicks have gotten better value from the non-OB/GYNs once they are in the range of "firmly not pregnant" where the range of available meds is greater. Obviously if you are nursing there may be some restrictions but making sure that there's consultation with a pharmacist or a lactation specialist can cover you there.

No I haven't been on bp meds. My bp with this pregnancy never got very high except during delivery and right after. The highest reading was 160/95 and it came down and settled around 120/75. My doctor didn't seemed concerned with the 130/80 reading at the office on Friday even though I think it is high for me. I have hypothyroidism as well. My med level for that may have my throid off balance.

The highest we have had at our house was 108 on Wednesday. The heat has just been awful.

Christy,

Residual bp issues could be contributing to your problems. It can take longer for your kidneys to recover especially if you're still having bp issues. I know that I continued to spill protein for months after Dylan was born and my OB assured me that it was because my bp had not yet returned to baseline.

And, it could well be the heat... you're about as local as they get to me and the heat is definitely awful! A few days ago it was 104 degrees in the shade!

However, I must ask, are you on bp meds?

postpartum swelling

Postby christyleake » Wed Dec 07, 637988 4:23 pm

I'm 7 weeks postpartum and all of sudden I'm swelling again with headaches and visual spots. The headaches are managable. The swelling in my hands, legs, and feet is just strange to me. Maybe its just the heat. I'm worried that it is a problem with my kidneys. My ob didn't seemed worried because my blood pressure was "ok". It was 138/80. My non pregnant blood pressure is usually 110/65. Does anyone else have kidney issues after pre-e? I have had pre-e with two pregnancies in two years.
