Lots of things can effect when you feel baby's movement. I felt something around 18 weeks, but didn't realize that's what it was until closer to 20 weeks. Partly because I was too sick (lost 15lbs) in the first 4-5 months. If you're a super busy person, you may not notice babies sublte first movements. Or you may think the movements are indigestion, or gas, even. Where the baby is sitting...high vs. low, and padding around your middle can make a difference too. As long as you're feeling baby now, just make sure the movement stays consistent. You can do kick counts...those are always a great thing to do, troubled pregnancy or not. Here's a link to an older thread that gives a great explanation of how to do kick counts:

I felt my first at 16, so soft, like a swimmer pushing of from the edge of a pool, the next at 14, the others around 12 or 13. One felt like she'd put in a speed bag and a trampoline at 13 weeks; I could feel her from the outside. Sometimes doctors are full of it.

I just realized today that I am definately feeling "kicks" and not just flutters and I'm only 11 weeks. I feel them the most when I've just eaten, if I sit in my chair and lean forward a little so my tummy is squished. I don't think the baby likes it and I got 3 distinct kicks or somersaults or something today.

With my last pregnancy, I felt flutters around 12 weeks and around 14 weeks with my 3rd. My first, I didn't realize what I was feeling until 22 weeks.

I love it when a male ob tells you things like that! As if he has any idea what it feels like in the first place. I'm preg with #2 and started feeling movements at about 14 weeks. I mean seriously if it was a woman dr with children there may be some credibility behind it!

With my first, I admitted it to the OB at 16 weeks (admitted because I knew he'd tell me I was wrong). Which he did; he said he thought that highly unlikely. So I believed him until I was pregnant with the second and felt the exact same thing at almost the same gestational age. I've since decided that it really doesn't matter what the OB thinks about this occurrence, because I'm the one with the kiddo in there dancing around, kwim? [;)]

Thank you all for responding. I will check in the Pregnant again area. I just asked my doctor and she said that I was too early and that it could be the stretching of the ligaments but that doesn'tmake sense. Has anyone esle been told the same thing. I could see if I was having aching, slight pain, pulling sensations, etc. I am left thinking that I have a very active child. I'll take that given my history.

I felt my 2nd child move at 14 wk, so I believe it's possible [:)]

I remembering describing those early movements to my DH as feeling like a muscle twitching or jumping in my abdomen - but in a place where you just would never expect to feel a muscle twitch, kwim? Sounds very similar to what you are describing! Hi there, baby [:D]

The more pregnancies you've had, the earlier you feel them.
