That does seem odd if you are delivering next week. I don't recall having to do the GD test more than once during pregnancy. Is that normal? I do my one hour next week but I'll be 26 weeks.
Either way... I hope you pass the 3 hr! I bet you will since you barely failed the 1 hr!

Re : failed the glucose test
The test was actually not that bad, I was expeciting so much worse. I think the worst part is waiting for the Dr. to call with the results.

Re : failed the glucose test
I never had to do the 3 hour, they just had me do the one hour, a blood test, i think the a-1c, and my control was in good control range, i think 6, and they sent me to a dietician for the diet, then i had to self monitor 4 times a day and submit the results weekly, the peri did put me on insulin about 6 weeks before i delivered and the testing and reporting stayed the same......it seems odd to me they never had me do the 3 hour but my peri was a gd specialist so who was i to question him!
Re : failed the glucose test
I called and she said the dr really wants me to do it, she just wants to know if she needs to watch me more closely for it and for postpartum. I will go ahead and do it because my dr is my friend and I know she is just watching out for me and being extra careful. I just dont know if I can drink that stuff again!
I didn't eat anything that morning before the one hour. My husband says that I flunked it because I was craving chocolate milk the couple days before and I drank over a half gallon of milk each day for the 3 days before. Luckly, I'm over that one.
He did take me to Applebee's for a nice dinner before I started fasting so I got out of the house for a little bit tonight, so I'm doing better now. My mom also got out of the hospital, so that was good. I'm just worried about drinking that stuff, I could barely drink what I had to for the 1 hour.

Re : failed the glucose test
I can't see the point at all since you're delivering next week! Especially if you were just off a little bit. Just don't go - what are they gonna do come and get you?? Just watch your diet & I'm sure you'd be fine for a week.
Re : failed the glucose test
oh that sucks trish I would call them and ask if you have to do it and if so why ??
Re : failed the glucose test
Could you call the OB back and ask for options? The 3 hour test is awful--and if you're delivering next week anyway, why put yourself through that? You could volunteer to do the diet or monitor your sugar at home for the next week and call in if you have bad numbers. Or some combination of the 2.
Did you fast before the 1 hour? That can make a big difference in your numbers as well.

Re : failed the glucose test
Seems a bit odd as you are almost done. I had my 3 hour a week after I failed my 1 hour, so obviously it's not that dire. Weird, maybe just so they know if the baby may be affected?
failed the glucose test
Just got word that I failed the hour glucose test. Now I have to do the three hour one tomorrow. I guess my numbers were just a little off, not severe, but the Dr. wants to test further. It just doesn't make sense to me to go through another test when they are delivering the baby next week anyways. Do you really think it is that necessary? I'm sure it is or she wouldn't have ordered it..just me venting...thanks for listening
