Hi everyone, I'm new here. I am so glad to have found these forums though, you all seem like an incredibly supportive, strong group!
I apologize in advance if this is lengthy! Perhaps I'm just looking for some support or reassurance, I'm not really sure.
I am currently 36w2d. I have had several complications this pregnancy (and went through fertility treatments to get here), but my most recent ones have obviously brought me to all of you!
I have been dealing with pregnancy-induced Tachycardia (120 bpm + at rest). I was initially put on a very low dose of Atenolol (12.5 mg 1x/day) by my Cardiologist after a normal Echo/EKG/Holter Monitoring. It did nothing and my OB switched me to 100 mg 2x/day of Labetatol. I'm really not sure that the Labetatol has done anything, either. My pulse is still typically between 100-120 bpm at rest. But I digress.
Apparently my BP has been going up over the course of the past several appointments. I was admitted 3 weeks ago when I felt really terrible (and ended up contracting the entire time), and had a clean HELLP Panel then. But since my BP has still been rising, my OB ordered a 24-hour urine collection and another HELLP Panel, even though I had no trace of urine in office. I'm still waiting on those results, but hopefully I'll get them tomorrow.
My biggest concern right now is what the potential complications or what the typical course would be if my urine and HELLP Panel came back normal, but my BP is still high. I am especially concerned since I am *on* a blood pressure medication already! My OB typically seems concerned about things, but then leaves me with little resolution when tests come back normal. Which of course drives me crazy!
For reference, my office-visit BP's have been as follows:
11w - 108/58
12w2d - 124/70
15w - 126/52
18w4d - 130/60
22w4d - 138/56
26w4d - 140/78
28w5d - 130/74
30w3d - 134/76
32w1d - 134/70
33w6d - 140/78
35w6d - 142/76 (repeated: 142/68)
However, I have also been taking them at home (via a digital wrist monitor) since my most recent appointment. At 36w1d, the result was 140/87. Today, at 36w2d, my results have been 147/83 and 150/90 (I took it again because my hands have felt swollen and tight). Not that I'm a rocket scientist, but these numbers just seem so high for someone who is on Labetatol already (for a different intended purpose, but nonetheless). Especially considering that my activity level has been very low.
So obviously, I'm concerned! I would appreciate any insight that anyone has to offer!
