Thanks, Joy! :-) Me, too. I'm sorry that you have that feeling in your chest a lot.

When I was diagnosed with high cardiac output my pulse was running around 100. I have always noticed that my pulse runs high - even when not pregnant, and things like anxiety and stress make it worse - there is nothing worse than laying in bed at night feeling like you are going to have a heart attach and feeling your heart thumping in your chest. I now feel like my life long white coat syndrome, high pulse and anxiety are related to my pre-e and future risk of heart disease.

I hope that your appointment goes well.

Oh, I will. I'm nervous that he won't want to test me for it at all, saying that everything is anxiety related right now...especially my questions. Well, duh! I lost Aaron due to all of this mess! Why can't I get a break on the bp thing? My pulse never seems to go over 78, when I'm at rest, and is at 80something when I'm stressed out or after walking around a bit.

My bp this morning was 136/94, and then, 5 mins. later, 131/91. I was sitting straight up and down on the couch, feet on the floor (as close as possible, since I'm kind of short!), and left arm at heart level...propped up. Then, on the right side...125/83. Argh!

Dara,

I think that pulse is not always directly related to High CO. If it were, it would be much more easily diagnosed. As SOnja said, there were a lot of tests done besides pulse to determine her CO. Let us know what the doc says.

Hmmm....It's the main question I'll be asking my peri tomorrow. Thanks!

So, basically, what we're all saying here is that if you have high cardiac output, you're more likely to have a higher than normal pulse rate...even for being pg, right?

Well, that's not how it worked for me. My pulse was in the 60's and 70's my whole pregnancy and I definately have high CO (like twice what it should be). I guess everybody is different though.

Mine was usually over 100 pregnant, but never over 120 like most women with high cardiac output, I ran around 101, 102. Not too bad, but not great.

I had a normal pulse my whole PE pregnancy, but I had/have (when not on meds) really high cardiac output.

My Peri diagnosed me with "high cardiac output," my pulse rate was related, but the testing to determine it was more than just checking for my pulse. I was put on Atenolol and my OB doubled my dosage to get my pulse under a certain level.

Take care.
