Re : Tubal
We just went through this decision process too. We decided on vasectomy. Both tubal and vasectomy are covered by our insurance. Basically it boiled down to which procedure carried fewer risks and that would be the vasectomy. I looked into the Essure and it takes a few months for it work (so does the vasectomy). It causes scar tissue to build up in the tubes so they are blocked. Something about that is just unsettling to me. Some women complained of pain afterwards with this method and that scares me too.

Re : Tubal
My periods are heavier than before. I can't say for sure that it's related to the tubal though... could just be age.
Re : Tubal
I'm sure one day they will.... just not in time for us. :-(
Re : Tubal
I kind of think they should provide a tummy tuck with all deliveries...I'm pretty sure my abs will never be the same :(
Re : Tubal
Thanks ladies. I've never had a C-section, I was always induced so I guess that's the plan for this one unless there's an emergency. I guess my tubal will be done the next day. I've been told the go through your belly button to do it. Too bad they can't do a tummy tuck while they're at it! LOL!

Re : Tubal
I had it done with my c-section last July and didn't have any side effects...at least nothing I noticed that would be contributed to having a tubal.
Definitely easier since my doctor was already 'in there', otherwise my hubby would have been going in. Lucky him!

I had a tubal done with my last c-section and the thing that I have noticed is that my periods are heavier. I don't know if anyone else has experienced this.

Re : Tubal
I'm having a tubal when I get my c-section, had to sign for consent before I hit 32wks. For the longest time we figured DH would be getting cut, but since I am going to get cut for a c-section, might as well do the tubal at the same time. I've heard having it done at c-section doesn't effect recovery. Don't know about having it done at a separate time, but from what I was informed if you have it separately the incisions are small.
Re : Tubal
I had a tubal. Recovery was from a section and it sucked LOL. But I think it would have sucked either way.
Re : Tubal
I had one when they delivered Jonathan. I haven't had any physical problems related to it. I had a c/s so there was no additional procedure and they said it took only 5 extra minutes (I didn't notice anything). I have to admit that I am having a hard time accepting that I won't get pregnant. I kind of feel that if I'm not doing anything, it can't work. I'm sure that's just my hang-up :)
