Re: Has anyone had a different partner for the second+ pregn
My doc said no hormonal birth control for me at all, so I'm not sure what my blood pressure would do if I had been able to take it. She said for me not to take it because I clot a little fast, I think I'm right on the highest before it is considered abnormal and I have a common gene mutation that from what I have read doesn't cause PE.. but maybe that played a part in it.

Re: Has anyone had a different partner for the second+ pregn
I had a different father for my first child than my current husband and had pe with both pregnancies. Was hoping that the second time around because of the different partner that it would be different but no dice. On a completely side note I think it is all just me.... I get HTN if I take the full strength Birth control pills. Have to take the low dose. My body is my own worst enemy.

Re: Has anyone had a different partner for the second+ pregn
I just read the links... and those are really interesting!!! I'm actually getting really curious as to how this will play out.. my first pregnancy was so quick and severe, and not being exposed enough to the partner could not have played apart because we had been together for 7 years and we had been trying for 2 years, so it had to have been something else. Just figuring out what (doubt that will ever happen) is going to drive me crazy. The only thing abnormal I was ANA was high, and the lupus anti-something was detected (which I thought meant i had lupus but turned out a didnt) I think it said something about a hexagonal pattern. I'll have to find my book for records from the hosp.

Here's a link to some recent discussion of the paternal contribution to PE and to surrogacy and PE in particular, and an article from the November newsletter on some new genetic findings.

Re: Has anyone had a different partner for the second+ pregn
That is one of the reason why when some one offered to be a surrogate for me I said no, since no underlying problems were found with me, I figured it was something about me and the ex hubbies genes, and there is no way I would want someone else to go through preeclampsia and risk there life for me. Sooo with the new hubby, it is just a whole new ball game. I'm hoping we get our miracle... getting pregnant will be the first hurdle and then staying that way is going to be the next hard part!!!
BTW, I think it is an amazing wonderful thing you did! Being a surrogate is problem the most amazing thing anyone can do for a person <3

Re: Has anyone had a different partner for the second+ pregn
I can understand your fear. I'd like to do another surrogacy but worry that I'd get pre-e and/or HELLP again. I realize the possibility is remote, especially since it would be, yet again, a new set of genes.
I'm sure you'll be monitored super close and you know what symptoms to look for--which is comforting.

Re: Has anyone had a different partner for the second+ pregn
The only thing that it keeping me hopefully about a different partner is with my first partner I would get urinary tract infections allllll the time, and knock on wood, I have not had one since him and I separated. Also, when I was with him my skin was horrible, pimples all the time, and after about 6 months of being separated it got a lot better. It makes me think my body just did not like him... but who knows. I just know I am beyond scared, my first experience was so horrible and knowing it could happen again...even earlier really really scares me. I never thought I could get through it once, going through it twice.... I just don't want to even think about it. I'm going to be on pins and needles the whole time... 4-12 weeks I will be scared to death because of risk of miscarriage... 12-20 I'll be thinking about 20+, if I make it to 24 I think 24-28 will be the hardest. I almost feel like I have to do this, because if I don't I will never know... but part of me feels like maybe not knowing is not better.... Why does adoption have to be so expensive

Re: Has anyone had a different partner for the second+ pregn
I had no problems with blood pressure or preeclampsia with my first husband/first pregnancy. But, I had preeclampsia and delivered early with my second husband/second pregnancy. My ob said he sees this often and was not surprised...
