HELLP can hit very quickly, and it very rarely stabilizes or reverses. I felt like I had HELLP symptoms that came and went for a few weeks, but that is really unusual. I did end up delivering at 35 weeks because things got really bad.
It sounds like you caught a really lucky break and a great chance to keep that baby in a little longer. I hope you are able to hang in there for a while. The doctors and nurses are probably right that some form of Pre-E could come back at any time, and that is really scary. It might help that you know what to look for, and that they are monitoring you very closely. Hang in there. We are here if you need anything.

Pre-Eclampsia goes away?

Postby aw5756 » Mon Nov 25, 2013 11:06 am

Please help, I'm so confused. I was admitted to L&D for pre-eclampsia with resting bp of 139/68 and protein levels of 470, elevated liver enzymes, low platelets. My bp systolic was constantly going back and forth between 135 and 155, spiking mostly after I ate. Nausea, headaches not relieved by medication, vomiting, flashing lights and extreme swelling, very exaggerated reflexes and indentations in skin when pushed in. Actually ended up losing 7 lbs after treatment with magnesium. I am 28 weeks pregnant so I was given steroids for baby's lungs, they said I had mild pre-eclampsia and they thought I was developing HELLP and would probably have to deliver in the next couple of days, maybe push it another several weeks. After a few days, I stabilized and my protein went back to normal and my bp went back to it's usual, 105/63. Sent me home after I remained stabilized but can't tell me what happened or if it will happen again. Now we wait. An experienced nurse tells me she's seen this and I will be back, it never goes away, they just managed to stave it off and that if I go home, too much stimuli will make it go back up again. Doctors have no idea what happened, when I went in, they were telling me I was getting really bad really quick and it was too soon in my pregnancy and that I most likely wasn't going to stabilize, but I instead went back to normal. I am happy that I am healthy again but scared. I feel like all we did was buy some time and I just want to know if anybody else has had this happen and what's their experience. I wasn't even put on bedrest. Doctor is literally stumped.
