At home strips for urine testing

Postby Savvymom9 » Tue Dec 03, 2013 03:44 am

I use at home urinalysis strips to keep an eye for protein. It's been negative or trace, and then suddenly yesterday and today the protein is showing 30(.3)+ or 100)1.0)++. This wasn't as worrisome to me as it also started showing a 2(35) or 4(70) for URO (urobilinubin?) and either 2(35)++ or 4(70)+++ for bilirubin. What does this mean? I have a doctor appointment tomorrow. I think I'm going to request a 24 hr urine and blood work. I just want to be mentally prepared if it may mean anything and google hasn't Ben helpful ;-)

Thanks!

I would definitely discuss with your doctor at your appointment tomorrow. As far as I know these dip tests can be somewhat unreliable, so asking for a 24-hour urine catch is a good idea. Sometimes being dehydrated can give you a false reading, but then again, it could also mean that you do have some protein in your urine. Let us know how it goes tomorrow. Keeping my fingers crossed.
