Sorry I don't know about bipolar meds and pregnancy, but I wanted to ask if you have been screened for thyroid disease?

Their is a higher incidence of hypothyroidism among bipolar patients than general population, and untreated thyroid disease can raise the risk of developing preeclampsia (and can cause symptoms of postpartum depression). I wanted to mention just in case.

Connor (severe pre-e at 38 weeks)
Claire (dx'd with pre-e and induction at 37 weeks)
Annabelle (chronic HTN & GD, superimposed pre-e @34 weeks, induction @37 weeks)

Welcome. I don't have experience with the combination of medications- however I do have lots of experience with managing care with multiple doctors. One thing I found quickly helpful was to sign consents with everyone so that my doctor's could speak directly to one another. It can be stressful to be the middle man, and so much can be lost in translation, I found it easier on all of us for them to speak together, hatch a plan and then check it with me.

Keep posted as you're able,
Lauren

BiPolar II preeclampsia at 28 weeks now need advice

Postby LeighAnn34 » Tue Aug 26, 2014 06:40 pm

I want to know how preeclampsia and being bipolar together is going to affect me in this way: The medication manager that I've worked with for 3 years wants to put me on Prozac and Lamictal the end of September to get it in my system to prevent any postpartum depression and psychosis I see my first Specialist for the preeclampsia Friday afternoon what kinds of things should I be asking her about the affects of bipolar medications on the baby and me with the high blood pressure?
