Hi Carla,

Welcome to the boards. I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your son, Hunter.

I don't live in North Carolina, but I found some high-risk obstetrician referrals for you (there's about six). To find them, go to the website listed above for the Society for Maternal Fetal Medicine, http://www.smfm.org Then click on "Physician Locator." Go to state and click on "North Carolina," then hit the "OK" block. The site should then list all the maternal-fetal medicine docs in NC, and hopefully you'll find one near you.

Hope this helps.

Wishing you the best,

Hello ladies,
I'm new to the board. i've actually been talking to several of you on the TTC forum. I can't locate any high risk docs in Charlotte, NC. Anyone live near Charlotte or have a suggestion as to where I can look. Most sites I've tried have no listing for the Charlotte area, which I know can't be correct?

Unless you have fertility issues with getting pregnant, then your doctor should not be sending you to a fertility specialist or RE. I would ask your doctor, why?, he/she is recommending a fertility specialist and not a peri? Yes, in my opinion, you should consult a peri.

Hi there! My Dr. is sending me to an Infertility Specialist... is this correct? I'm so confused. I had a problem with Preeclampsia my first pregnancy, I want to see a Dr. about another baby possibly. I don't want to take the time to see a Fertility Specialist if I need to see a Perinatologist??

It has been suggested by several members of our Medical Board that all women with a history of preeclampsia consult with a high risk pregnancy specialist before initiating another pregnancy and/or during a subsequent pregnancy because the greatest known risk factor for developing preeclampsia is having had it in a prior pregnancy.

You can find perinatologists who specialize specifically in hypertensive pregnancies at http://www.nasshp.com

AND

General perinatologists at http://www.smfm.org

Each site has a link to the addresses of their member doctors, and you just have to browse the site to find the doctor nearest you.
