Congratulations! It sounds like you are both doing great! My daughter was born at 35 weeks as well. I am thankful your little one came out and handled things beautifully!

Congratulations to you. I'm so glad to hear the you are both doing well. I agree with Jennifer, a rocky start with the oxygen and all, but you have a little fighter there. Best of luck to you both.

Congratulations Valerie! A bit of a rocky start for Kirstin, but I am so happy that she came home with you! Enjoy that little girl. How is Wyatt handling the new baby? How are you feeling?

Take care!

update on me

Postby valea » Tue Oct 26, 2004 06:00 am

I am so sorry for not getting back to you my internet went down and I just got it up yesterday.

I did have my little baby girl, Kirstin Ellen! I had her on Oct 11th at 8:54pm. She was born at 35 weeks. I went that day for a check up and my bp was 167/110. I stayed there for about 30min and was watched with it never going back down. They decided to send me to the hospital for observation. While there it just stayed steady. They ran test and then decided it was best she came out. Since she was breech and I had a pervious c-section they just took her by c-section. She weighed 5.9lbs and was 18.5in. She came out screaming! That night though she began to have trouble breathing. They tried to put her under an oxygen hood and a cpap but by Wed she was on 100% oxygen so they sent her to childrens hospital where she went on a ventilator and got 3 doses of surfactant. She was on the venitaltor until Friday night. She then just had the cpap at 30% oxygen. This is also when I FINALLY got to hold her for the first time!!! Then on Saturday the oxygen came out and she ate for the first time. Then on Wed the 20th she came home!!!!!!!!!!!! It is so sweet to have her home. She is eating well and doing well. She weighed 5.5lbs when we brought her home!!!! I will try to update more and post more!
