We picked ours out and ordered it two days after Kylie passed away. It was put in the cemetery a month after she passed away. We picked out a triple headstone and put Kylie right between where my husband and I will be. I felt better knowing our baby will have her Mom and Dad on each side of her, and seeing our names there by hers on the same stone helps me too. The part of the cemetery we are in only allows flat stones, but we felt it was more important she be buried by family than have a monument. I wish we didn't have to think about these things.

It took us about a year to finally pick one out for our son Zachary. We wanted to save up for a nice one and it was laid just after his 1st birthday. It was really hard seeing Zachary's name on it and it is still hard to see because it was all so final.

We just now got Elodies stone, its been a work in progress since august, about 9mnths after loosing her. I agree, getting the stone done was one of the hardest things. But, I am feeling so much relieve to have it made and be exactly what I wanted.

We got ours 2 days before Addison's 1st birthday. A good idea if you need to wait is I bought wooden letters spelling Addy and painted them and my husband drilled holes in the bottom and we put them in the ground.

It took us just a little over a year to get one that we like. The day it was placed on the site was just as hard as losing Katlyne all over again... Without the stone it was almost not real then all of a sudden her name was on the grave. Made it so real....

Good luck to you....

Thanks. I just feel bad sometimes that I haven't. Almost like I am neglecting him.

My husband picked out a temporary marker as soon as he could...I was so out of it I didn't even ask or notice..we both chose the permanent one a couple of months later. Be patient, it's VERY hard. I kept crying and thinking to myself "I should NOT be doing this for my baby" while we were looking at the selections available.

Grave markers

Postby jjones1333 » Wed Nov 05, 2008 08:56 pm

It's been almost 8 months since Anthony became a beautiful angel. We still have not gone to get his marker. One because it is too expensive and two because it just seems to finalize everything, like he is actually gone. But I also don't like to go "see' him and there's only grass. My sister didn't even know where he was since here was no marker. That just killed me.

How long did it take you to get a marker?
