I am sorry-- that is such a bummer, and so hard! I know when I had a miscarriage in my first pregnancy they said they normally only test for things that might be issues after 2 or 3 losses since miscarriage can be fairly common. My second pregnancy was successful, though I did get pre-e, but my baby made it through--so I haven't had that testing to know what all it checks for.

Not sure if this helps, but someone I know suffered many losses before having her now 1 year old, and she is pregnant again, and though she has had some scares, she is still hanging in there on this pregnancy.

Thanks everyone again. I've been tested fairly extensively and don't seem to have any underlying disorders, not even high blood pressure (except for very mild kidney disease - which my docs don't really consider "sufficient" to explain my rather extreme problems).

Sometimes there are no answers ... which is very hard to accept ... just feeling very low x

I am so sorry for your loss. Have you got tested for pre-existing conditions? I have a blood clotting disorder and was told because of it I am prone to miscarriage and can have a hard time carrying a baby. I actually got my tubes tied in my c-section when I delivered my son 3 months ago stillborn. Best of luck I hope you can find a Perinatalogist who can give you some answers.

I understand. Ping me if you ever want to talk or I can help with information. I'm not around the boards so much, but you can find me at cgilbert at xs4all.nl.

Thanks.

Thanks for the sympathy and suggestions. Cheryl - I am so sorry you really have been through so much even since Sophie's death.

I guess I am just feeling incredibly low now, maybe even worse than when I delivered Alice and I still had some hope there might be another time; there really seems little point carrying on like this, in fact I really can't go through any more.

I realise I don't even particularly want another pregnancy - there is just too much anxiety and uncertainty in that - I just want Alice back. Of course, we all want that. I am now 38 which is also why I think I may have reached the end of the road. I know that two m/c is not that rare, but PE stillbirth followed by 2 m/c is. And I know my age doesn't help and substantially increases the m/c risk anyway. Not sure where to go from here, but thanks again for all your support xx

I wanted to add, Jules, that although it may not feel that way, 2 miscarriages can be normal-- just bad luck. Generally they want to do the more serious testing after three concurrent miscarriages. I'm not sure how old you are.

I'm sorry to hear that it maybe happening again. I had two m/c after my daughter (who was born at 24wks due to PE/HELLP). I couldn't believe that it was happening to me again!! So much loss.

I have no underlying conditions for the difficulties, except for high ANA. But my specialist suggested that I start baby aspirin as soon as I found out I was pregnant next time and it seemed to work. He then put my on lovenox as soon as a heartbeat was detected (approx 6wks).

I still have problems with pregnancies, but at least I've got one baby now and a second will be arriving at 33wks tomorrow via c-section.

Good Luck!!

Jules,

Sorry to hear this :(

I did think I heard once - but I can't find a study - that miscarriage can be more common up to a year after a traumatic pregnancy event - PE wasn't specified - but I think it definitely is a traumatic pregnancy on the body all right.

I hope you get some answers and it sounds like Cheryl had lots of info to share.

Hugs to you- Jamie
