I thought I would share these with you all. They both helped me a lot.
• "Coming to Term: A Father's Story of Birth, Loss and Survival," by William H. Woodwell Jr.
This book tells the story of Bill and his wife Kim, who was pregnant with twin girls and had severe preeclampsia and HELLP and had to deliver at 24 weeks. One twin made it and spent several months in the NICU and is now happy and healthy,. The other twin was too tiny to survive and died after only a few days. Kim went on to have a baby boy a few years later and had a normal pregnancy. This is a good book to read several months after a loss, but is probably not for someone grieving a recent loss. It brings back a lot of memories. What I appreciated most about it was the fact that he detailed what a roller-coaster ride life in the NICU was like.
• Pregnancy After a Loss: A Guide to Pregnancy After a Miscarriage, Stillbirth or Infant Death," by Carol Cirulli Lanham.
This is a great book to read when you're ready to start trying again, or are contemplating it. The author lost a baby (her first) at term due to a cord accident. All of the women she interviewed for the book went on to have healthy babies after their losses.
