I was under the impression that it was the norm not to treat till BP hit the 150/100 range. I posted that in response to a similar question and Anne said that some doctors would treat earlier to try and stave off further complications, like you've said. I too am seeing a slow rise in my BP...much like yours and at about the same time, if that's not funny! lol I've been watching for a rise in BP because I feel that I am at risk for chronic/essential hypertension. A diagnosis of hypertension before 20 weeks (even with normal BP outside of pregnancy like we have) is normally considered chornic hypertension. My bp just hit the 134-6/88 yesterday so I don't think it is a new "norm" for me yet, but will watch and be sure.
Oh, and I was on meds after delivery (HCTZ) and not while pregnant. I also had PIH. I think I was not put on meds durring pregnancy for two reasons, I had Oligo (so the risk of IUGR was probably too high) and my BP's while increasing did not hit a steady 150/100 till about delivery time. I stayed labile for a long time. Actually, that's partly why I'm thinking I'm a great candidate for the chronic htn...The fact that I had the BP issue for so long without ever developing protein. It obviously caused other problems, though. WOW...this got long! SORRY!
