Ultrasound Results

I had a Level 2 ultrasound today, as a result of the positive triple screen. It appears that the baby is free from spinal problems and down syndrome. However because of the problems I had with the last baby the perinatoligist has put me on aspirin therapy and suggested that I take calcium, vitamin c and vitamin e. They did some more blood tests and depending on the results they may put me on a blood thinner. I will have to go back for another ultrasound in about 8-10 wks. I had asked if I should be seeing a perinatoligist and he said not at this point but that could change depending on the blood tests. I do feel a little better having asked the dr some questions and seeing that the baby is growing at a normal rate so far.

The baby was very active, it took awhile to get all the measurements. No wonder I feel sore and have trouble sleeping all the time, lol!

Hi Renee,

How far along are you in your pregnancy? I got a positive
triple screener as well. My babies spine was also fine,
but I developed horrible pre e. My intention is not to
scare you, but to encourage you to lay on your left side
as much as possible. This has been found to provide
optimal blood flow to the baby. Take Care of yourself, and
please keep us updated. I hoe you have a long and uneventful
pregnancy!

I am 20wk pregnant right now. I think my big goal now is just to make in past the 30wk mark, when I had my last baby. I do know more about what to expect this time, the importance of not down playing how I am feeling, and not to put off seeing the doctor if I have any unusual problems.

Hi Renee,
I am glad that your u/s revealed a healthy babe...I am confused though. Are you seeing a peri? Because you say the peri put you on asprin therapy but then later on asked if you should be seeing a peri? Or were you talking about your last pregnancy? Sorry, I guess I haven't had my coffee fill this morning!! Anyway, I hope this pregnancy goes nice and smooth for you!!

Hi Mada,
Sorry, I probably wasn't clear. My reg. OB Dr referred me to a Peri for the level 2 ultrasound. The Peri suggested the aspirin therapy and said that I don't need to be seen by anyone other then the reg. OB Dr unless I develop problems or the blood tests show any problems.

Renee,

I would think the perinatologist would want to do
ultasounds more often to check on the baby's growth.
Maybe you could suggest it?
