That's a high diastolic reading........by chance are you using a wrist bp monitor? The fact that it went down slowly also makes me think possibly it could have been an accurate reading, I had horrible bp's but never that bad, the only readings I got that hgih were with a wrist monitor, which was not correct. Anyways, you need to keep a close eye on it regardless! Let us know how your tests come out............

Wow, that's interesting about the difference in BP when exercising. It would make sense to me. I feel like pregnancy is affecting my BP again, but that it's just not showing much because I'm used to low BP's. I know I'm still okay for right now (and probably will be okay), but I'm also glad they're watching me so closely, because this way, it won't sneak up on me like it did before. I'm also learning to take it into my own hands and know what the labwork should look like. Thanks, ladies!

I know it's a little frustrating to go in and suddenly have the "emergency" be treated - um - less than urgently. But I'm still glad you went in, and that your doctor will be doing more tests. I'm hoping for many more weeks of pregnancy for you. Keep us updated!

Oh! I went through my literature searches and found the weight-lifting / blood pressure reference:

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entre ... id=3041529
"There is general agreement that the systolic blood pressure increase determined by isotonic exercise usually ranges from 50 to 70 mm Hg in both normotensive or hypertensive subjects. Diastolic blood pressure shows only minor changes in the normotensives, while in the hypertensives it tends to substantially increase because of their inability to adequately reduce their peripheral resistance."

The study doesn't have anything to do with PE, so I probably shouldn't have made that comparison at all. But wow, I'm glad you only got that high number once! [;)]

Well, it ended up being a strange experience. I went in and ended up waiting an hour. That surprised me, because of the way they were acting when they wanted me to come in ASAP. The doctor who had wanted me to come in didn't end up coming in to see me. It was actually the Dr who has been following me (whom I really trust a lot). He said he wasn't so sure my monitor was correct, but that they would do the blood work and a 24-hour urine test anyway. I told him the reason I felt it was an accurate reading was because it slowly went down little by little over an hour's time. It seemed to creat a pattern, as far as I was concerned, which seemed to give it some credibility. He's not too concerned, but I can tell he's making sure to do the tests, just incase. So, I'm happy with that. I know there's really nothing they can do until something shows up in my labs. Thank you for your thoughts.

Well, I called and they wanted to take some tests. But then they called back and said they had talked to the Dr. He wants me to come in ASAP. Now, I'm just waiting for the babysitter, and I'll head out the door. I'll update as soon as I can.

Whew! That sure seems like a high number to me... In your shoes, I would call my doctor. As far as I have read, spikes like that are *not* normal unless you are weightlifting *while* they take your bp [;)]. Let us know what your doctor says!

i say definitely call your MD and talk to them about it, that is a very high BP and let the MD decide what they want to do..you can never be too careful! have a nice, low stress morning while you wait for MD to advise you...you'll be ok, best of luck!
