28 week check-up

I went to my 28 wk. check-up today, and it went well.
My B/P was 120/77. *sigh of relief*
I expressed my concerns about the baby's size, (since Bella was so small for GA,and I thought it was due to the pre-e, he agreed etc.)
And he said that after the 3rd tri. US we could tell a lot more. But by external palpation, the baby seemed on track (sizewise).
I got orders for labs, he wants to scan for clotting disorders, and some other things related to this type of high risk.( I didn't catch all of them- and I don't understand the abbreviated codes on the orders.)
So I guess I will find out when they come back.
He wants to see me in a week. So I am going to get my US next week sometime.

Also, I had my 1 hr. GTT. and the tech blew out 2 viens.~~~uggg~~~.
He initially went for one in the crook of my arm, dug around, I got faint-sweaty-dizzy, then proceeded to the next available one- very close to the first, which bled more.... I am getting queasy talking about it.
Once they start that digging I am ready to drop.
Then a more experienced older woman came in after I overheard her saying to him in the hallway,"Why don't you just come ask for help when you need it!!"
By then I laid my head down on the armrest and she did my hand in 1/2 a second flat. It bruised, but was a heck of a lot better and quicker.
If I fail and have to do the 4 hour I am asking for a veteran phlebotomist, and going to another lab in my town.
As I will do for this next round of labs, (this week). And "May I have a butterfly please???"
(even though the last time I went there the receptionist gave me a ration of sh*t b/c I was not still breastfeeding my baby. Rather than telling her my life story, and about how I almost died etc. etc., I just nodded and went on my way.)

So,... other than looking like a IV drug addict, I am doing pretty well.
I just pray! pray! pray!, that it stays that way.

I'll keep you posted and I'll include those abbreviations when I have the orders handy.( I have a feeling a few of you brilliant minds will be able to help me decipher them)

P.S. I am ultra-paranoid that any swelling is gonna lead to a sealed fate. Can anyone talk me down???

Your BP was GREAT!!.... Sorry about the blood bleeders. When I first went into Nursing school I started my wonderful medical path as a Phelbotomist.... There are many good ones and many horrible ones. Always yell butterfly when you can!!!....

Hi There! Well it sounds like you are doing great!! I have terrible little veins and when they were trying to put an IV in me, 4 times my vein blew and I bleed everywhere!! They finally had the flight for life nurse do it!! I know how wretched that is so....I am sorry about that!! I hope everything comes back good for you!! Keep up the good bp's girl!!!!

Oh my word!!! I'm so sorry you had to endure the trauma of getting blood drawn like that! (And good bp reading by the way).

I, too, know the awfulness associated with blood draws. After hearing it several times, and having so many awful things happen, I guess I just have small veins. Since my pregnancy and the horrid things I had to go through during blood draws and attempts at starting i.v.'s, I now ask for a) a specialist in doing these things, and b) a butterfly needle (with the blood draws).

PS: Your post in the other area about the Mag Sulfate from the article you were reading...it was hillarious!!

Sorry about the blood draws, that's horrible![xx(] I hope that you pass with flying colors and don't even have to worry about doing it again!

By some miracle I only had 157 BGL from my lab results, and that is only borderline!!
I don't have to do the dreaded 3 hour!!! yay!!!
I will continue the ADA diet though, and continue to monitor w/ my glucometer 2 days a week.
I do think that following the ADA diet from day one, and the 20 lbs that I have lost have helped a lot, as well as the prayers and support that I have recieved here.
All this positive energy is so special and important.
I cannot thank you great people enough for it!!!

I get my 3rd tri. US, Monday. I am excited to see how she has grown.
I hope that she is on track.
I guess I'll venture out for my labs afterward, God knows I'll be plenty hydrated, maybe my veins will be a little more co-oppreative.

Meanwhile, I am getting more absentminded each day, I feel like I sound like a pothead when I talk to people. I forget what I am saying mid-sentence. Oh well, the dumbening of Jennifer[;)]

Me too, that is why it is even funnier.

I am so looking fwd to my US tommorrow. Not so much the labs, but I'll get over it.
I'll have the 15 month tot in tow, I hope she is calm.(She is working on perfecting the fine art of a temper tantrum. Today she added headbanging to her repetiore.)
