Ugh, so I went in for what I thought was a 24 hr BP monitor hook-up (after it being rescheduled while I waited there on Tuesday...I swear they don't realize I have a kid and babysitters waiting. PAIN!) and they had me scheduled for a cardiac consult. I argued a bit because I was not told anything about that, etc. They said they don't even own a 24 hr monitor, they had to order it and it hadn't arrived yet...they'd call me and let me know when to come in! So, I go through with the consult assuming I've not been informed or something and it was completely pointless. The Dr who just about 3 weeks ago said my heart was healthy and fine took my bp, said my pulse was high (122 bpm), asked about my thyroid tests, listened to my heart and said he knew nothing about htn in pg and that I needed to ask my OB that stuff. Also, that I didn't need to come back to see him untill I was 6 wks PP to see how my BP was doing then. Talk about a pain! And I'm going to have to pay for that! The only good thing is that he has heard about the cardiac output monitoring done at UW in a roundabout way.
So, I called the OB's office and just got a call back. They wanted me to do the 24 hr monitoring but will now call the internist and see what he suggests. Great...we already know he "knows nothing about pg htn." She also said that the Dr. would call a peri and see if they thought I should be medicated. They don't even have my #'s for the past few weeks...all they took down was my range last Friday (in both arms) and the midwife already made it clear she didn't understand those by saying I was probably making them go higher by taking it too often. Yah, once a day while borderline is too often! Ugh, I could scream from the stupidity. The whole "medicated" part is probably because I dropped off some printouts of the "ask the experts" section and wrote a note to the OB that I dropped off before my apt. today so the OB could read through things and collect her own thoughts before we discussed it all at my regular apt.
They are so making a case for me going to the UW! LOL Hmm...maybe I should look into what it would actually cost. Plenty, I know. I'll wait and see what they say when they call back in a few days. If I get a call back saying "we'll see you at your next appointment, nothings wrong now" I'm going to be rather irritated. LOL that's the most diplomatic statement I've made all afternoon! LOL "rather irritated"
Anyway, sorry I'm always on here complaining! I just get tired of all this. I like my OB and she is good at what she does but at the moment that isn't seeming like it is enough. Thankyou for listening yet again!
