[?]Severe preeclampsia and clotting disorder

I am 31 yrs old. I developed severe preeclampsia at 25 wks and delivered by emergency C-Section at 26 wks. My daughter lived for 3 wks. Since then they have discovered I have a clotting disorder (PAI-1 gene) that caused her growth restriction and possibly the severe preeclampsia. Anyone else experience anything like this?? I am currently on baby asprin and will do heparin shots with my next pregnancy. Thanks for any info at all!!!

Hi Stephanie,
I am pregnant with #2 due in June.
I am 30.
I am currently being tested for clotting disorders(dna, comprehensive, etc).
***(awaiting results as we speak)
I am almost 30 weeks(Thursday).
I suffered pre- and HELLP, and a uterine hemmorhage 4 hours after my daugher was born. She was only 3.6 at nearly 34 weeks.
She is now 18 lbs at 15 months.
I am currently being treated by a high risk specialist, and have been (LUCKILY) doing great this time.
They are doing fetal growth monitoring via Ultrasound every 4 weeks.
As of 28 weeks the baby was measuring about 2.05lbs.,about a week behind.
My Doc. assured me that she was still in a good range,50%-tile.
I am not on any kind of aspirin/heperin therapy at this time.

I am so sorry about your loss. My heart and prayers are with you.

I have been diagnosed with blood clotting disorders, but in both my pregnancies bedrest help to extend them for long periods of time without any other treatment. Any further children (that I will never have!) would be treated with heprin.

Hi Stephanie,

I'm sorry about your loss. I also lost my baby to
this horrible disease. I was tested and do not
appear to have any blood clotting disorders.
I still don't know why it happened. I am not
over weight (I am still battling to take off
some of the post pregnancy weight, though) When
are you thinking of trying again? It seems like
you have a plan for this. I'm glad you will be
having your shots. If I decide to "try again"in
the future I would def. want to do the meds.
