That's awesome that your doctor is so in tune with you!
And yes, although we're always hollering for 24-hour urine collections, "trace" can also be normal. Just keep an eye on your bps and your signs and symptoms http://www.preeclampsia.org/symptoms.asp
and congratulations on making it 39 weeks!!!
I'm looking forward to your birth story!

Yeah, Katie, that is fantastic - 39 weeks!! I can't believe it's here already - seems like you just told us not that long ago that you were pregnant. Freaky story about your doc - talk about being "tuned in".
Re : 39 wks-trace of protein
Thanks-Good. I trust my dr...but you know how it is-sometimes I just get concerned. I don't see her again until Wed. but know she is on call this weekend-so I can always go in if I have concerns. I'm dialated to 1..so nothing exciting, but yes 39 weeks is a new experience for me. It has gone great and I still feel great.
Here is a weird story-my dr today said that she had a dream about me the other night-she said she typically doesn't dream about her patients, but once in awhile she will. She said that in her dream we named the baby Sam. I looked at her....freaked and said, Oh my, that is the name I think we've decided on...Samuel. WEIRD huh. She looked at me goofy and said-wow, that is creepy. She said, "Katie, you are a special patient. I even had to call the hospital to make sure you didn't deliver and I missed it" (At our hospital whoever is on call, is who delivers.
Good luck to everyone-I'm hoping to have this baby Monday or Tuesday but we'll see. (not that I really have a choice)

Re : 39 wks-trace of protein
I'm 28 weeks and have been dipping trace occasionally too. Since my BPs are low and I have minimal swelling (probably attributed to the 90+ temps and humidity), my docs aren't concerned either. They said they'd start to worry if it 1+. So, agreeing with the others...
Congrats on 39 weeks!

Yep I think that's great especially since you are 39 weeks, woo hoo you are almost there!
Re : 39 wks-trace of protein
In my non-medical opinion, I think it's an appropriate response. Trace protein with no other symptoms is usually considered negative.

So went to my 39 week appointment. Everything has been great but now today showed a trace of protein. I had HELLP with my first at 36 weeks. My BP was 115/78...which is still pretty good-the 78 is a bit high as I usually am in the high 60s low 70s--but really still a good BP. Absolutely no swelling. My dr didn't seem that concerned about the protein. She said that if I had another symptom to go along w/it she'd do further testing, but right now everything looks great-just drink more water.
