Lauren,
I can imagine your anxiety and I don't think you're nuts! Have you talked to your dr. about it? I also know many people who were put on meds shortly before delivery in hopes of alleviating many issues before they start. For most of them - it has worked quite well so, I definitely wouldn't hesitate to ask.

Re : Afraid of whats to come...
I haven't had a similar experience, but I know that my husband's family has problems with PPD. And, I also know that some doctors will put you on meds shortly before delivery to try and prevent it a bit. Hopefully you can have a better experience this time around!

I think that it is normal for all of us who have had a less than perfect delivery to dread going into it again. I think you should talk to your OB about it, ask her plan for getting you through the post-partum period. Maybe that plan can include continuing your bp meds so that you don't feel ill afterwards again. Also, can you line up some help for you and you family for afterwards, this might help to take some stress off of you. I am glad that this pregnancy is going so much better for you. Take care.

Afraid of whats to come...
As I begin my third trimester, I'm beginning to dread going to the hospital to give birth. Even though my labor and delivery went well (considering the PIH complications)the first time, I began getting anxiety attacks while in post-partum recovery (also suffered Post partum depression and anxiety for about 8 months after). My BP was higher then than it ever was (probably a rebound effect from the stopping meds), and I was convinced I was going to die!! So far this pregnancy has been so different, and healthier. Am I nuts to feel this way? I've been thinking about asking my OB to put me on Zoloft (which I was on for about 16 months abter delivery #1) as a precaution right after the birth. Has anyone else had a similar experience?
