Welcome Earthside, Colin!

And I'm so glad your doc knew when to move -- dang. Are your pressures down?

Hey Ladies-My little man, Colin made his way into the world on 12/4 at 4:18 pm. He was 7 pounds, 10 oz. and 19 3/4 inches long. He's my peanut of the bunch!

I had a beautiful induction. I was expecting it that am and at my OB appt. with a BP of 160/90 and +1 protein my doc said she'd "had enough" and it was time.

They started pit at 9 am and she came over at 11:30 to break my water. I was still at 2 cm. with very mild contractions. I settled into a nice pattern of contractions around 1 pm. Checked at 2:30 and was 5 cm/90% effaced. Things seemed to take off after that. I spent a lot of time on the birthing ball and after some MAJOR, MAJOR contractions, I barely got back onto the bed before I had to push.

The great thing about natural child birth is that you definitely KNOW how to push. It took me about 5 minutes and 2 good pushes and out he came.

One interesting side note-Colin's cord looked like one of those "cork screw" phone cords. Really weird. My doc said it's good that we did this now because apparently the rate of stillbirth increases with babies who have cords like this. Who knew?

So all in all, it was a great experience. Sounds like we got it just in the nick of time before things went south.
