Are you pregnant again after having preeclampsia once already in a previous pregnancy? Post your thoughts/concerns here - there are others who share your feelings. This is also the home of our Bedrest Buddies Support group.
I've had two, and it felt no worse than any kind of injection. It's fast if your doc/tech are good and you have plenty of accessible fluid. My results were back in about 30 minutes (and this was with Ella so there was no rush), but my office had a ridiculously fast turnaround on all lab work. Just don't look. Seriously.
I had an amnio not for testing lung maturity- and Sabrina it was scarier to contemplate rather than in terms of physical pain. It hurt. But not unbearably. I didn't even scream. It was so fast- a pinching pain when it hit my uterus and a contraction. But otherwise ok. The dr was good- walked me through it, talked me through it, and then it was over. Labor? Hurt way more. Your endo thing? Sounds way worse. I've had menstrual cramps that hurt more! And lately I've had charley horses that hurt more than almost anything I can imagine....
I had seven amnios for lung maturity (plus the original, diagnostic for genetics as I was 39 at the time). The only one that bothered me was the last one, the others were just a needle stick but you didn't feel the needle once it was in. Good luck, I know it's scary! I kept an eye on the ultrasound rather than on what they were doing...but then ultrasound is what I do for a living, so I knew what I was looking at.
