Thank you! Yes they gave me the Zofran, and it was so awesome. Wish I would've had it in '97 whe I had hyperemesis...

I noticed with my bp cuff that the readings are like about 30 points lower when I am lying on my left side than sitting up. Am I right in assuming this does not bode well for me returning to work?

Adalat. I will have to keep that in mind if the labetalol doesn't do it alone.

Hoping you see the doctor today and get some more answers! That lasix is harsh isn't it? I had it and you're right I peed more than I've ever peed! That said, I think it's a good sign that you need - that means that you had some fluid that needed to get out which might very well lower your pressures. I hope that it was the hyralazine causing the nausea - did they offer you some zolfran (sp)? I took it and it ROCKED taking care of the yuckies!

I know it's so hard not to freak out and worry, log on, post and vent if you need!
Thinking of you!

Well I got a BP reading of 138/80. Wow. Then it went back up to 168/118. It's so labile, which makes me fear PE is in the beginning stages. If that's the case, there's no hope for the little one. I'm trying not to go down that road though. Tonight I had kind of a breakdown when the high BP happened. I started to think, what if I die, too? I actually called my best friend, she wasn't home, to ask her to help my dh out if this ended up happening at some point during the pregnancy. I'm glad she wasn't home. It was just about 15 moments of sheer freaking out. Now I am feeling better.

They discontinued the hydralazine. That was probably causing the nausea and vomiting, but they're not sure. They gave me some lasix (sp?) so I'm peeing constantly. I guess I will see the doctor tomorrow.

Thanks for the good thoughts coming my way. You ladies are truly the strongest, coolest, most empathic group of women around. How blessed I've been to have found you during this scary time. Thanks for being there.

I don't have anything to add, but I just wanted to let you know I'm following your posts and thinking about you. Worried but relieved to read some of the other responses you got.

Hoping the pressures are going down....

Jenny -
There really are a number of BP meds that can be used and, like Jennifer said, sometimes it does take a while to get the right set of them going. 200/130 is frightening high though - did they put you back on IV meds to lower it? About the classifications, I would also think that the peri would have a great deal more knowledge of what his practice *typically* uses for difficult to cojntrol high blood pressure. I would not worry at all about being difficult - I would be as difficult as I needed to be right now. Maybe start a list of questions for the docs? I would be asking when the peri would be called in and if not now under what circumstances? I would tell them I just felt better with the perinatologist being involved - it would make sense that the cardiologist would be most concerned about you right now.

How are you doing now? How are your pressures - I hope they are better! Please keep us updated as you can - I am worried about you!

Thanks everyone. It was so weird. This morning bp was 138/82. That's so fantastic. Then like 4 hours later it was 200/130. So frustrating! But at least now I know taking a couple of meds while pregnant is not unheard of. That makes me feel a ton better.

Jenny, I'm so sorry to hear your're having issues finding the right meds to control your blood pressure. I currently am taking Aldomet and labetolol for my blood pressure which so far has kept it under control. It took some trial and error to find the right combination for me. I had previously tried hydralazine and Procardia unsuccessfully. Just echoing Trish, in order to help the baby, they need to take care of you first. I know how frustrating this can be, but please hang in there. I hope your BP gets under control soon.

I was on labetalol and hydralazine for most of preg. I was maxed out on labetalol and taking hydralazine 3 (or 4) times a day.

Hang in there....

I was just on labetalol in ever increasing doses while pregnant but many women here on on multiple BP meds during pregnancy. My BP's worsened post partum and I was on up to 3 different meds at a time, though now am down to 2.
In order to be concerned about the baby they have to take care of you first and get you healthy. It's hard for us as moms to handle that but we're here anytime you need to cry or vent.
