Rest as much as you can and maybe do a few things to keep your mind off things. I had a bp spike a few weeks ago and my protein was slightly over 300. They put me on bedrest and my bps are great and my protein is down to 275. When I get a little stressed my bps shoot up. Please rest and do something relaxing. I am keep you in my thoughts and sending you a big (((hug))).

Hi,
BP was down to 140/74.... yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy :) They were happy with that. May it stay like that for another few (or 5) boring weeks!
Thanks for your support ladies. I belong to a *regular* pregnancy board but talking to them about stuff like this just wouldn't work because they can't relate.

I hope your home visit goes well - I'm thinking of you (and I'm impressed that they do home visits!). 30 weeks is a good place to be, and 3lb11 is a great weight for that gestation (my 34 weeker weighed that much, and although it was frightening that she was so small at her gestation, she did very well overall in the NICU).
Plus, I agree with the others, this isn't necessarily PE and even if it is, you could progress slowly. Don't lose hope!
And please let us know how you are - I'm thinking of you!

Thanks Ladies :) I'll keep you posted after the home visit tomorrow... fingers crossed but keeping in perspective - 1 more day off 30wks and 3lb 11... that should be my new mantra :)

Congratulations on making it so far. I am maxed out on labetolol at 2400 mg, and my pressures still run in the 130/90 range, some higher some lower. It's never worked great for me. So, while something could POSSIBLY be on the horizon it could be you just needed a bit more bp medication. Good luck!

First, congrats on 29 weeks and over 3 lbs! Yeah!!! Second, its better to be over tested and worry and catch any problems early than to not be paranoid and the complications be unmanageable. At your stage (I'm 29 weeks), if our condition quickly deteriorated, they could give us drugs to speed up lung development and deliver in 48 hrs and our babies would have a very high chance of surviving. If they don't check often, and things go down hill but aren't caught in time, we may not have 48 hrs more to give the baby to develop. I'm all for testing as often as possible.

It does sound like something could be happening. That's how far along I was last pregnancy when I started having a few odd BP readings. I was put on bedrest two weeks later. If its going to happen to you again, 30 weeks isn't so bad. I made it to 35 and possibly could have made it a week or two longer but my OB was going out of town for a week and was nervous about leaving me in the care of his partners when he knew me best. My proteinuria was increasing slightly as well so we all agreed that 35 weeks was the best time to deliver in my situation. Hopefully you'll make it many more weeks!!! (((HUGS)))

Hopefully the med increase will do the trick. It's great that they are watching you so closely! Of course you are concerned - it sounds like they are checking you as much as they can and crossing my fingers that things go slowly!

Re : 29wk4 visit - PE in the wings?
I am 30 weeks today and it sounds like we are in the same situation. My baby girl weighed 2 lb 7oz last week. My BP has been high since past 20 weeks. It ranges in the 140/90's even with the meds. So my doctor has me taking bp medication 3 times a day. I have also been to the emergency room 3 times for migraines. I know it is frusterating and worrisome not knowing whats going on with our bodies and when and if we are going to develop PE. The best thing to do is not over worry and relax as much as possible and be aware of the warning signs. I will keep you in my prayers, good luck!

29wk4 visit - PE in the wings?
Hi ladies,
Argh - is this the onset of PE or am I just paranoid?
I had an obstetric visit today and wee girl is measuring nice and big at 3lb 11oz (yay!) BUT within a fortnight my bp has gone from 130/80 to 150/88 - the doctor looked concerned, and has doubled my meds (300mg labetalol to 600mg). Oh and enough protein to have lab tests today to check on that. Also, they're visiting me at home on Friday morning to see if there's an improvement. Rationally, I know that 29+4 and 3lb 11oz is a different world to 25wks 1lb 1oz but I'm still concerned.
