I began bleeding this morning and by early afternoon I passed the baby and placenta separately and intact. It looked exactly like those fetal development photos. I called my husband in and even in the midst of a miscarriage we still marveled at how fearfully and wonderfully we are made.

I've read that many women don't actually see the baby. So I am very thankful we could clearly see it was the baby and that it happened quickly. I was concerned about it taking weeks to happen and excessive bleeding. With my miscarriage at 14 weeks I had to wait three weeks. The doctor covering for my reg. OB wasn't comfortable doing a D&C after 12 weeks and wanted to wait until the miscarriage started on its own rather than forcing my body into an induction. I was walking on eggshells for three weeks waiting for something to happen! Because of that experience I feel like I have a huge weight of worry lifted off my shoulders this time.

I am sad that I miscarried, but seeing the Lord's work in progress and knowing that he is the author of life and has numbered our days brings me peace.

I will call my MFM's secretary on Monday to cancel my appointment and ask for the name of a reg. OB to see for follow-up care just to make sure everything has returned to normal. All the cramping is gone and the bleeding is minimal now so I should bounce back physically pretty quickly.

Thanks again for all your encouragement and advice, I really appreciate it.

How are you feeling/doing today? I hope that the spotting has stopped. I'm voting too for going ahead and going to the doctor!

I would definitely still go in. I had spotting for several weeks when I first found out I was pregnant, then at about 6 or 7 weeks I had severe bleeding and was told I was miscarrying. But I didn't miscarry and I am now 18 weeks pregnant. Best of luck to you!

I spotted quite a bit and for quite a long time with my first, too. It was chalked up to normal unless I was bleeding enough to soak a sanitary pad. Good luck and best wishes that it's just spotting.
