I actually just read an article about a woman who developed HELLP at 15 weeks, but that is so incredibly far from the norm (she had an underlying disorder). I started developing symptoms at around 17-18 weeks, was diagnosed at 19 weeks, and delivered at 19.5. So early is certainly possible, though not necessarily probable.

If you're concerned (and who wouldn't be?), you might ask your doctor if he's willing to draw liver enzymes and platelets every few weeks or so, just for your own peace of mind. That did wonders for me--being able to look at solid numbers and know I was okay for the time being.

Thank you Trish!!! 19 weeks is so early... My perinatologist appt is next Friday, we'll see what they can do. So far I haven't had any additional u/s or tests done, but I have been feeling pretty well (knock on wood!)Thank you again, this website is probably the only one I could find some answers about this terrible condition.
Take care ((HUGS)) back :-)

I am so sorry for your loss. We have had women here develop PE and/or HELLP as early as 19 weeks & need to deliver. Glad all is going well for you this time! I'm sure your OB and/or MFM specialist are watching & monitoring you and baby very carefully. (((HUGS)))

Dear All, I wanted to ask at how many weeks have you heard of having someone develop pre-e or HELLP syndrome?
I had HELLP at 33 wks and my baby was stillborn in January, 2009. I am almost 21 weeks now with our second boy and so far I am feeling great, but I can't help and worry! Thank you
