Just got the call back (after 2 1/2 hours). Go in if it gets worse or I am worried.

Well, I went to sleep after an hour and a half anyway...LOL Bad me, I know. Didn't feel like going into OB at 5am. I still have the headache so I called my OB's office and talked to her nurse. No response yet back from them...not sure if I'll get one if she isn't worried. Though, I did see another single, short-lived firefly while talking on the phone with her right through the center of my vision. Rather funny. My headache isn't as bad now, but still there. Thanks for your concern ladies!

Catherine...

I had hope to see that you were feeling better today. I'm so sorry your not feeling all that well. It must be in the air. Today I feel like crap but it's a headache that goes away with sleep (Which I need so badly) and I think I will have to break down and finally ask for something besides OTC things that just aren't working anymore...

Sending you HUGE HUGS....

Hugs

Oh Catherine! Sorry about the stars and everthing coming along with it. I get stars while I am driving sometimes now. I do get them if I get up too quickly, but usually it is when I am relaxing, sitting etc. Soooo go figure. I hope it doesn't become too much of a bother.

Hugs,
Suz

Thanks for asking Kaz.

I had not just stood up but cannot remember if I had bent over to pick something up. At the time I was simply going about my business and didn't pay much attention to my activities. LOL Seems like I had just gone to the kitchen to get something and coming back to the living room is when I had the shooting stars. They have not come back as of yet. It seems like I've seen one or two (grand total) in my periphreal vision since.

Though, I got a headache around 6 pm last night (not normal for me outside of pregnancy and PIH), took two tylenol, went to sleep and it was still here when I woke up at almost 4am. So, I called into OB to see how much I can take. Tylenol and sleep being inaffective is not the norm for me either, though yesterday was by no means a "normal" day as far as the hot temperature goes here!

And, the visual disturbances and headaches they are looking for are caused by swelling near/around the brain. So, while they are often associated with an increased blood pressure, it isn't required. Just increased swelling. And with my weight loss I have no idea how much I'm swelling compared to before. Still pitting up to my knees without actually looking swollen and finger swelling is always present but comes and goes as to severity.

Again, like with the shooting stars, I feel like if they do have me come in it will be for a BP and urine check and both will turn out just fine. BP high for me, but fine (128/86 last night w/ headache). I will have to tell them, if asked to come in, that I will be coming in for some form of neuro check, not just the urine and BP for I know I will be sent home again with no changes if that is all they check.

They said if it had not gone away within an hour after taking 975-1000mg tylenol that I should call back (in about 30 minutes). I had hoped to fall asleep but the milk and movement woke the baby who is now kicking and with a headache it is even harder to fall asleep. So, I'll let you know if there is anything else to report.

That's what happened to me - either standing up quickly, or bending over, then straightening up.

What were you doing when you saw the stars? The pre-eclampsia warning signs sheet my hospital gave me said that if you see stars after just standing up etc and they quickly go away that is not what they are looking for - apparently it's quite normal for pregnant women to have a brief episode like that when changing position quickly. It's persistent viusal disturbances that concern them.

I've seen the shooting stars, too, but it's usually after bending over and getting up again. I've never called, but will mention it at my appt next week. My BP was really good today, so I wasn't concerned about it.
