I'm here on hospital bed rest for high blood pressure and a mild case of pre-e. I had been in the hospital 2x before I was put here this week (5 days ago now) because my bp started creeping up slowly and they have been having to up my meds. I'm hoping they'll stabilize and maybe I'll be able to go home...but I'm not going to get my hopes up.

I'm wishing you luck and I hope all goes well for you! Keep us posted!

Oh well. At least you will have your delivery date planned. That is a huge plus in my book!

Yeah, well now we're opting for a c-section, so I'm a bit bummed...also jealous that you'll have my due date of 11-11-11!! :D COOLEST DATE EVER! Looks like I'm only going to make it to 10-21-11. Stay rested!

Oh, only seven more days for you to be induced?! Yay!

I have a feeling my protein level will have gone down a bit and I will just have to wait it out until a 37 week induction at 11-11-11. Still getting high readings...but I'm waiting on the results of the 24 hour protein and the other labs for liver function and platelets were fine so it's not like they can do much for me in the hospital anyway. I just have to take it easy. I'm being seen twice a week ~ mfm appointment and bpp one day and a nst the other day.

Oh wow, someone in my boat! Hope everything is well and stays that way. I was back in the hospital yesterday with 2 pressure readings of 150/110, but once again labs were fine and they came down to 120/80 when I layed down for a bit. So crazy how high they can get! 7 more days and hopefully this will all be over.

I was in the hospital overnight twice in the last two weeks, the most recent bp I went in with was 198/95. They let me go home yesterday to finish the 24 hour test since more labetalol brought my bp down. Right before I left I started experiencing the flashing lights. Figured I better mention it before I left and was told to stay for another hour or until it stopped. A resident commented that the flashing lights were nothing to be worried about. I finally realized (Thanks to Brandi!) that they are not going to get worried or excited over symptoms if the protein level isn't up to 300. So as long as you haven't hit 300, you wait.

Sounds like they are doing an excellent job watching over you! Hope it is all over soon so you can enjoy your sweet baby!

Thank you all for responding. Love this forum.

The hospital I go to does have a level 3 NICU and it's supposed to be very good. I delivered at different hospitals the other 2 times.

I have 2 NSTs with appointments with the high risk dr both times, as well as a 24 hour urine twice a week (plus what they check while I'm at the appointments), blood labs drawn up twice a week, and an ultrasound twice a month. All the area MFMs in the area have a weekly meeting about my case every Thursday. I've been on this schedule for about 2 months now and not one thing has come back "bad". This baby is much, much bigger and doing way better than my other two babies, and I don't think I had half as much attention during those pregnancies, so I do feel, honestly, that I'm being watched very closely.

The problem seems to be in the criteria that I have to reach in order for them to induce me before 37 weeks. They're saying with the high blood pressure alone, there's nothing they can do (the doctor may have said "by law", I'm not sure...let me know if you know anything about this!) before 37 weeks. Blood pressure has been around 145ish/95ish lately, which isn't "treatable" to them. I have another appointment tomorrow (I'll be 36 weeks) and I'm supposed to get a date for induction, which I guess will be due to PIH, not Preeclampsia. So I will have had HELLP at 28 weeks (fetal demise),Preeclampsia at 34 weeks, and then Pregnancy-Induced Hypertension at 37 weeks. Even though these last couple weeks have been a bit much, I still can't believe I got this far.

Pipper,

It's because of my persistence that I am alive today. My docs all told me to go home when I was having high BPs, vision problems, and headaches. I became the biggest pain in the butt and demanded a full workup and bedrest. When they did an ultrasound they saw that both my uterine arteries (left and right) were shot and very little blood and oxygen were getting to my baby. My docs said it is a miracle I am alive after my 180/120 BPs and problems post partum with severe PP PE. My best suggestion, is be your own advocate by listening to your body. If you know something is wrong, don't back down from the doctors they don't always know what is best. Only you know your body.

Please keep us posted!
Laura: Was diagnosed w/ PE at 35 weeks, though had swelling and headaches back to 28 weeks. Went undiagnosed for several weeks!! Had Severe Post-Partum PE up to 3 weeks after delivery. BPs not return to normal until 6 weeks post partum.

Son born 11/2/07 at 35 weeks. 4 lbs 9 oz.

Will be TTC Spring 2012 - Currently have new High Risk OB & a MFM Specialist for better outcome for next time around.

Does this hospital you are delivering at have a nicu?

Perhaps you could go to the ER at another hospital that has a high risk pregnancy unit & nicu.

With everything you've described, I'd park my butt in the ER. I would request a full panel of labs to be pulled and I would ask that each and every symptom you've mentioned is charted. Thinking of you!
