What position was your placenta in with your PE?

I have asked in another thread if placenta positioning correlates with PE but while googling I stumbled upon a thread about Anterior placentas and a high association with PE. Everyone who responded, bar one, said they had anterior placentas. What was your experience??

Baby #1 - anterior - PE delivered at 35 weeks
Baby #2 - anterior - PE delivered at 38weeks
Baby #3 - anterior - PE delivered at 37 weeks

Baby#4 - posterior so far but only 12 weeks

I was just wandering where would you find that information out? I can't recall it ever being mentioned to me.
I do know however that during my 12 week ultra sound the sonograher "for practise" did an internal and knocked the placenta causing me to bleed - I have always wandered if that had anything to do with my developing PE.

Placenta positioning is part of routine scans to ensure that it is not blocking the exit for baby (previa) and how well the blood vessels join there and provide blood to and from the baby. The umbilical arteries are visualised and in cases of PE the flow can be measured for resistance. High resistance and knotching are associated with PE and IUGR. Anyone performing your scan should be able to tell you where your placenta is.

I had an anterior placenta as well... I never even thought about a coorelation but I did a little google research and I noticed a pattern with anterior placentas and PE. I will definitely be asking MFM about this when I see them July 26th.

My placenta is in the front, and it looks "healthy" on the scans. The uterine blood flow on both sides to it look good and the cord flow looks good...
Baby, not growing good...

Babies #1 and #2 were posterior, baby #3 was anterior. It's been a while since I've done a lit search but I'm pretty sure the research hasn't found a connection - I'm definitely interested to hear if you find a study I've missed!

From what I read about actual studies, it had more to do with placenta placement being not in a central location. I believe it was a 25/75 split with the 75 percent of PE people having placentas that were posterior or anterior but not centrally placed. It was more anecdotal really. I searched this site to see I commented myself on a thread in 2011 where someone must have stumbled upon the same thread as me which was on another site and had over 30 responders and 28 of those had anterior placentas. I was just being curious on this site as it's a specialty site and felt it might be more informative.
