Pregnant Again

Postby EmilyBear » Fri Dec 21, 2012 06:45 pm

Hi there,

Well here we go again. We lost our little Emily at 34 weeks on May 25, 2012 to a massive placenta abruption. We got the go ahead to try and conceive again and low and behold we're expecting again. I am happy but nervous and I'm wondering what other ladies out there to maintain their sanity and calm during a subsequent pregnancy after preeclampsia

I've taken time off work this time. So happy for a great Short Term Disability Plan at work but at the same time, all this time off leaves a lot of time for my mind to wander.

Due date: July 28, 2012.

Hi and congrats on your pregnancy!!! We also lost our baby boy 2 years ago now. It is not easy emotionally being pregnant again after having had preeclampsia and if you suffered a loss it's magnified. I am now 34 weeks along. So far so good. I have had lots of ups and downs emotionally throughout but how could I not? I also cut way back on work this time which for me has made a huge difference!! Yes more time to think, but also more time to relax and rest. I have been staying well hydrated, eating healthy. I swam during the summer and walk now. I make sure not to watch the news, so have been catching up on some great feel good movies. I read, talk to friends have them visit. If I feel scared I talk to my husband, family, friends people who support me or of course coming here on this forum has done wonders for my sanity. When I am sad I allow myself to be sad. I cry I talk to my new baby about her brother and how I miss him and wish he was here. I have been a great advocate for myself with my docs, if I have questions I ask, if I don't like something I say so. I have at times insisted on labs, 24 hour urine tests and extra ultrasounds even against what the docs thought for my own peace of mind. As scared as I've been of history possibly repeating itself I have also been so grateful and surprised at each day, week and month that goes by that I am still here pregnant. I also suggest prenatal massages whenever you can, they are great!! Take one day at a time and reach out when you need to. Thinking of you, wishing you a happy, healthy, uneventful pregnancy. xo

Congratulations on your pregnancy. I lost my second daughter last year at 24 weeks to a complete and unexpected abruption as well. My blood pressure was normal, and no signs of PE. We will hopefully be trying again at the end of 2013. Needless to say, I am TERRIFIED of it happening again (the abruption) since it happened so suddenly last time.

Best wishes to you and please post often, as your journey will give me hope and strength.

Thank you for replying. I am eager to get past the first trimester since I feel exhausted all the time. I even decided to order in for Christmas this year since the energy to prepare the meal felt like too much. We are excited and nervous all at the same time. Prayers for us all.

I'm right there with you! I'm about 7 weeks and am exhausted! My job ends in 3 days so that will help, but I feel that I am going to lose my sanity also. I hope that I will be able to find a temporary job to keep my mind busy ( and to bring some money in...). I have been unemployed during 9 months of the last 12 and found that volunteering for the local food pantry helped a great deal. I'll be looking for some additional volunteer opportunities next month.

My due date will be somewhere around August 20, but I'm sure they won't let me go that long.
I will look forward to your updates. Take care!
