Good news April - I'm glad to hear that you're bp is stabilized and protein looks good. I was hospitalized at 28 weeks with bp of 220/120 and protein of 4500. However, bedrest and an increase in meds did the trick for me - I was able to get to 33 weeks - I delivered a little boy weighing in at 3lbs. 12oz. and he had the steroid shots. He was on CPAP for 5 hours and then just had to stay in the NICU to get bigger. He was there for 18 days and is now a strapping young completely healthy 2 year old. With the way your numbers look now and the way you are being cared for I think you will do very well. Best of luck to you.

That is great news, we are pretty much in the same boat. Thinking of you, hope the resting continues to help.

Hang in there, April. Try to relax and know that you are in good hands. Sounds like you're pretty stable, and that's great news.

I wanted to update everyone on how things are going-

My bp has been stable at the 120s/80s, I did another 24 hr urine test and my protein went down from 180 to 120. I have been resting alot, and I really think that is helping me. My Dr. plans on inducing me at about 38wks, so I just need to get alittle over 5 more weeks out of my pregnancy.

Thank yall so much for all the kind words and encouragement.[:)]

April,

My son was born at about 31 weeks. He was between 31 and 32 weeks but my OB and the NICU doctors never agreed on his gestational age. He is now 3 going to be 4 in June.

Let me start by saying that he is healthy as a horse! He was 3lbs. 4 oz. when he was born and about 36 now. He never went on a vent or a c-pap. He was given a little extra oxygen through a nasal canula for a few days and then they just pumped it into the isolette for about the first week. They think the mag gave him a little trouble. I was given the steroid shots a few days before he was born and I think that helped him.

He spent 31 days in the nicu. He was sent home without any monitors. He was what they called a feed and grow. He did have jaundice at first which is pretty common for preemies and he did develop reflux. He went on Zantac for most of his first year for the reflux, but then it seemed to be resolved.

He did get the RSV shots during his first winter and he did seem to get croup fairly easy and had a harder time with it for the first couple of years but that could have nothing to do with him being born early.

Like I said earlier he is a bright, happy, healthy, normal 3 year old boy. Feel free to e-mail me if you want more info. Take care!

April-

First let me say how great it is that you are to 32 weeks. I had Andrew at 34 weeks and although he was 3# 6 oz. due to IUGR he is totally fine now. He was NICU for 25 days mainly because he could not get sucking the bottle down. He was on a respirator for less than 24 hours and this was a baby who had two true knots in his cord and it was wrapped around his neck. Another thing you have going for you is that you are having a girl, I have always heard that girls do better than boys as premies. Your baby will be fine just follow your instincts and if rest is what keeps the bps down do it. Also are you going back to Dr. B. now that your bp and labs are going up?

April, I know you don't feel like things are so great, but to those of us looking in (who have been there) you are doing great! Your doctor sounds great and I know you are taking care of yourself. Just hang in there and rest. I'll be thinking about you
