April,

I hope you have a few more weeks before things get much worse. I had a 30 weeker who needed c-pap for a week or two and stayed in the NICU for about 8 weeks. He did great. But 32 weeks plus is so much better - I think if they thought you were likely to deliver soon, you'd get the steroid shots for baby's lungs. I know I limped along for about four weeks after I starterd getting symptoms last time - I just laid down and stayed there, which kept my BP stable if nothing else.

I know it's hard not to let the nerves get to you - I'm struggling with them myself - but things won't necessarily progress really quickly, and it sounds like your Dr is really on the ball. Thinking of you.

Hey April,
I am sorry that things are starting to creep up again....32 weeks is awesoome and since your protein is still with in normal range and you blood looks good, I am really thinking and hoping woth some rest at perhaps some bp meds, you will be able to hold out another 3 to 4 weeks. I had Sam at just about 36 weeks, we were exactly 35 weeks 5 days and he was in NICU for a day on oxygen and had jaudince but other than that he was great!! He was discharged with me 4 days later. Try to take it easy and enjoy some rest..get some good chick flicks and chill. Once that little baby comes "just chillin'" will be a thing of the past:) Hang in there and keep us posted!!!

Well, at least you are being closely watched, that is always a good thing. And you are at 32 weeks which is another good thing. I know that doesn't ease your worries and anxiety much but those are good things. I will be praying that you are able to make it another few weeks. My fingers are crossed for you. Stay on top of any little symptom and call the doc if you need to as many times as you need to. Hang in there!

I replied on your other post regarding a 34-weeker. But looking at your numbers and the attention your doctor is paying, you may be able to keep that baby in longer than you think. I will keep my fingers crossed and praying that you can eke out a few more weeks. Try to rest and make DH do everything!

April,

My PE last time hit me at 32 weeks also. I was able to keep my dd in until 35 weeks. My protein levels at 32 weeks were 750 and by 35 weeks they were 1300 and the day of delivery was 4800. They had me on bedrest for those 3 weeks which is why I think I was able to keep her in so long. You may be able to go a long ways since your numbers are still really low.

I don't have many answers for you, but wanted to say that I'm thinking of you and to take it day by day. You are much farther along now then you were with Natalie. I can't recall if you know what you are having. We are here for you...{{{hugs}}}

Hi April - I am due the day after you so I can tell you what I know.

Most of your symptoms sound familiar. My bp stays down as long as I rest (sleep) on my side of a couple hours in the afternoon and I don't do anything too strenuous. My normal bp (and first 16 weeks of pregnancy) was 100/60. By 28 weeks it was consistently 135-140/85-90 and my legs had pitting edema up to and above the knees. Now that I am off work and resting it hovers nicely at 120/80. I can tell when I have done too much as I start getting the headache and swell up quickly and my bp is always high when I check. I am pretty tired all the time, more than I think would be "normal".

That said - I am expecting to make it to full term. My OB is very optimistic that rest, etc should keep things in check. I just did a full blood panel and 24 hr urine yesterday, so I will let you know if things change.

So - try not to get too worried about having the baby early yet!! Hopefully we will both have another 6-7 weeks of pregnancy left!!

For your other question - my 35 weeker needed a little extra oxygen at the start, was hypoglycemic and was severely jaundiced. He recovered quickly and we went home from the hospital when he was 4 days old (we were readmitted for phototherapy for 2 days when he was a week, but I think they just should have kept us and done it when we were still in maternity).

He has never had any other health issues.

Things are not going to great(UPDATE)

Postby april » Tue Jan 16, 637342 7:33 pm

Sunday I checked my bp in the morning as I normally do and it was pretty normal 120s/80s. Then I checked it again midday and it was 130s/80s, and I checked it again that that night and it was 140s/80s. So that was enough to scare me into calling the Dr. on call. I told him my situation and he said that I could come in and they would check my bp and run some tests. When they first checked my bp it was 157/80s. But as I was laying there and they put me on my left side it went down to 120s/60s. And all of my blood work came back fine so they let me go home. But I had to start a 12 hr urine test that night and bring it in to my Dr. the next day. So, I went in to my Dr. yesterday and they checked my bp in the office and at first it was 130/98, but alittle while later my Dr. had me lay down and it was 130/74. She also gave me the result of my 12 hr urine test and it was 90, so she said that it would be around 180 if I did a 24 hr urine test. So my protein has gone up from 115 at the end of May to 180. She also said that if it goes up to 300 then I would have pe. I go back to see her tomorrow for a nst and my appt. and she is going to have me do a 24 hr urine to check my protein again. I can just feel pe coming on again. My eyes are starting to feel alittle puffier than normal, and I have to stay in bed to keep my bp from going up. I feel like I have a mild headache all of the time, and I just don't feel great. I was really hoping to avoid getting sick this time around. I am 32 wks today. I hope I can atleast get a few more weeks out of my pregnancy. Does anyone have any experiences of how your babies did if they were born between 32-34weeks, and how they are doing now? How long were they in the nicu, did they need blood transfutions, what can I expect?
