Wife just diagnosed with PE, what to do?

Woo Hoo!!! I'm SOOOO happy to hear that everyone is healthy and that your wife and daughter are home! I'm sorry the induction didn't work, but it sounds like they tried very, very hard hard to help your wife have a vaginal delivery, and let you feel in control of the final decision to have a c-section. A healthy mom and baby really is the true "ideal" birth experience! If you have any lingering sadness or anger that your home birth wasn't possible, please know that's normal [;)]. Congratulations! This situation is one that all women who've had PE really hope that if they can't avoid PE altogether, they'd like to have it turn out like this - mom and baby going home together! I'm so glad you have your wife and daughter! I nearly died with my eclampsia and my son nearly died, too! Reading your posts made me realize how much my own husband must have worried. Praise God for your healthy baby and moving-towards-healthy-again wife!

Well last Friday on our way to Tabbytha's first doctor appoitment, my wife saw a halo in her vision. We called the OB and they had us come in right away. After an exam we were sent to the hospital and were released today. Her BP was high so she went back on the MAG. All the labs looked good, but she still had high BP. We weren't able to keep Tabbytha with her there, but my mom was able to watch her for a few days. Anyway we are now back home, and my wife's BP is back to normal. I guess the PE stayed around for 10 days after the birth. We now are home and all is well. I knew PE could last a few days, but was hoping for the best.

Now all is well, but we will still keep a close eye on things. Again thanks to all for all the help and caring.

I am so glad that she went back in. Postpartum preeclampsia can be easily missed or confused for something else. I had exactly the same thing happen to me. I know you all had a much different plan for pregnancy than the hand you were dealt but I am so glad that everyone entered the new year alive and well. What a roller coaster for you!

Well time for a 1 month update. Everyone is doing great. My wife is off the BP medicine and it is down to 110 over 70 or so. We are still testing to ensure it stays low, but its been low with out meds for over a week. I think we are done with the PE. The baby is doing great as well. She is very active and very very cute. Now if we could just get some sleep... :)
