Preeclampsia research

According to a report from Beth Israel hospital in Boston, they have discovered the cause of preeclampsia.

What do you at the Preeclampsia Foundation think of this announcement. Is it for real, or just something that is going to be debunked in a couple months or years?

And if it is for real, what does that mean for us? Will there be a treatment or cure...within OUR childbearing years?

Dear Sharel,

We will be posting a more in depth comment on this study but our Dr. Lindheimer (Medical Board) commented on our behalf in the following article about this study

..."It's difficult to attack a disease unless there is a known cause," adds Marshall D. Lindheimer, a nephrologist at the University of Chicago and a medical advisor to the Preeclampsia Foundation."

The general feeling from our medical board is one of optimistic waiting. This is exciting news but the reality is that it may only be one way to get the disorder or drug therapy may take years to arrive--but yet--very exciting.
