association with depression/anxiety?

What do we know about a connection between maternal depression and a the development of PE?

I know depression can raise blood pressure...yes, there are many different reasons why people can develop PE. For some people, could there be a link to even mild maternal depression, and then PE developing?

Is it possible that mild to moderate depression could develop during some pregnancies (for many different reasons), blood pressure could in turn rise, and PE could come along as a result?

I do not know of any association with depression prior to pregnancy or during pregnancy that is associated with preeclampsia.

We commonly find a diagnosis of anxiety disorder in patients at risk. When we slow their heart rates down, (with a ß-blocker), their anxiety gets better.
