What's considered appropriate postpartum swelling, and what's considered worrisome? Should I call my doctor if my swelling gets worse than it was at discharge? Why does it get worse before it gets better, and how long does it usually take to resolve?

The swelling, in and of itself, is not a concern. (Other than being really uncomfortable.) More importantly, what is your BP doing? Postpartum is the most dangerous time with preeclamspia.
