Polyhydramnious can be associated with a diabetic state, in a sense like the hyperglycemic individual pees a lot the fetus does too (the source of the polyhydraminious). While some texts note increased preeclampsia with polyhydramnious, the association dissapears when the diabetes and multiple pregnancies are considered when searching for confounding variables. Very very rarely polyhydramnious causes partial urinary tract infection associated at times with hypertension, and easily misdiagnosed as preeclampsia or gestational hypertension.
Hope this helps.
