I'm so excited! I just went to Walmart to wander a bit away from the (sick) kids and came out with.... a shiny new bike! DH has been pestering me to go biking with him and Al, but I never got the hang of the handbrakes/gear thing (trust me, it would make sense if you knew me IRL) and I found the perfect bike, it reminds me of when I was 8!

YAY, Laura, I'm so happy for you! What a sweet gift (and spiffy looking, too) from your DH! [:)]

Have a great time biking with him and Allie! (And camping this weekend, should y'all go!)

I know it may sound cheesy but when dh and I have time after work and the weekends to work in the yard, etc its nice...but...we still make alone time (away from our furkids). Even at night instead of watching t.v. we'll both read in bed...at least we are doing it together.

We try to have a date night - movies, dinner, ice cream..take a walk in another town. On the weekends we might go to an antique/farmers market to browse through stuff - We used to hike a lot before the dogs, but even going for a hike to a place the dogs can swim is fun. After 4 yrs of not doing much with each other, like a vacation, my mom sent us to London in 2003 - last year I planned all year for a trip to Disney this past Feb. Next weekend we are heading to NH for a getaway. I know everyone might not have the money, but I try to plan to go away now and then..even if you can do it once every 6 mos...go away for at least one night.

Yah Laura... I LIKE the bike.

On a side note, we thought we would bike together well, needless to say, DH bike is still shinny new and has about 2 miles on his tires. While mine we borrowed and never returned...

Have fun!!!

We used to golf together (before baby) but we don't play a lot of sports together for that competitive reason- we're great cheerleaders to eachother, and that's where it stops.

Our "long term" grow old together activity is our cabin project. We just like to go somewhere and "be"- reading, hanging out, cooking nice neals, watching the fire. Stuff like that keeps us going- even if we have to do it indoors at our own house for now.

I'm going to sound sooooo ancient- but you two sound like you are very bright- so how about learing to play bridge? It's a FANTASTIC "couples" activity, you can meet other couples, it's the most complicated, intricate card game there is (only game that can not be solved by a computer) and it requires that you AND your DH communicate well (using "bridge speak" that is).
Sigh. I wish more "youngins" knew how to play!

Bridge, uumm. Never tried that - but we do play dominoes. We're on our way to being old and wise.... at least the old part.

You guys have great suggestions - I'm sending all these along to my hubby.

Keep 'em coming....

Yeah, we are so boring. I sit and watch my DH read his medical books. We really need to get together soon. Well, He leaves in 2 days and will be gone for 2 months...and he is taking my DD. [:(]

So perhaps when he comes back he will want to do some stuff with me...and I don't mean just the "free stuff".

We used to go on long walks. I loved that. He hates walking. But I loved going and talking about our dreams, thoughts and just life. He wanted to go bike riding. He said we are still spending time together...but you can't talk during those bike rides. So I don't like them that much either.

Occasionally we have about an hour to our selves or what not and we might watch a movie or something.

See, told ya....boring.
