I had an almost 5 pound baby at 34 weeks, probably because he was growing too big too fast (on track to hit 10 pounds at 40 weeks, at that baseline going into the big fetal growth of the last six weeks or so of a term pregnancy.) Maybe I shouldn't have cut out most of my caffeine. <g>
I alowed myself one soda a day, then just water. They said that 100mg of caffine effected the baby, and the more caffine after that the more it effected the baby, But the soda I drank once a day only has 38mg of caffine, so I wonder if that amount still had an effect. I had IUGR starting at 18 weeks, but I have a very small frame, and my mother did to, with four kids her biggest was 7.2 pounds and she was due or over due with all of them. So I tought if I had gone full term that she would not have been much over 5lbs I just wonder if the caffine made a diff???
I cut out all caffeine my first pregnancy and had a 5 lb baby. With my second my ob said I was allowed two caffeinated bevs a day. I really needed it taking care of my 2 yo son and my 2 yo nephew! My dd was 8lbs 4oz at 37 weeks. Not scientific I know, just my experience.
