I've experienced hyperthyroidism, but as a result of medication (I had my thyroid removed, so I'm on thyroid replacement). I can speak to the symptoms and my reason for it. There are many causes, but I believe Grave's disease is one of the more common causes. Assuming she's going to need treatment, she probably would want to find an endocrinologist.
