Weight Loss Buddies Fall 2010 Starts 9/21

Hey Ladies,
We are starting another "session" of weight loss buddies next week. We will check in on Tuesdays with our current weight, change from last week, goal weight, and a little update. This is an informal thing - drop in/out at any time. Please join us if you want to lose that baby weight, get in shape for an event or TTC, wear your old clothes, or just get a little healthier before the holidays. It helps us all to have a little company on the journey, and I liked feeling accountable to you all. It helped me turn down that cookie/chips/etc.
So, please join me next week for our next installment of Weight Loss Buddies!!

Goal: 140 lbs (-18 lbs) by Jan 1 and complete a half marathon in mid-october.
What I accomplished last time: I started out struggling to run for two minutes at a time, and I can now run for 6-8 miles without a major break. I only lost 5 lbs, but that translated into one belt size, one jeans size, and fitting into most of my old clothes again.

Hi Beth - We will do current weights next week, mostly because I forgot to weigh myself this morning ;)

It also gives everyone a week to find the scale, get on the scale, and come to terms with the scale. Good luck!!

Can a middle-aged, long-menopausal, mom of a teen join in? I never had a problem with my weight, really, until I hit 50 -- and then I put on about 25 lbs in one year.

My problem is that I have pretty good health habits but used to be able to get away with one or two truly small indulgences a day and still lose or maintain my weight. Not any more! Now I have to really be strict and keep it to (according to Weight Watchers) essentially 1100 calories/day. Considering I work on my feet all day for a ten-hour day, that's not as much as you'd think, but any more than that and I put the weight back on!

I am at 152, down from a weight of 162 this time last year. I used to be 5'5" and 135 at my heaviest. Now I'm only 5'4". Even ten lbs down off my current weight would make me happy. My problem is lack of true exercise. I work on my feet all day, but my body is used to that level of exercise. However, back problems and a long exhausting commute, cut into exercise time and it often winds up being at the bottom of my energy list. It's just too painful for my back injury (bone spurs impinging on the spinal cord of my neck, and yes it hurts most days).

Audrey - of course!!! I really struggled to find time to exercise last year, and I can't tell you how much better I feel after making it a regular part of my life. Weight Watchers may be next for me too. "See" you Tuesday!

I'm in :) Now I just need to accept that the number will be very high. I have a long way to go. I just started back to weight watchers. I lost 55 pounds with them after my older daughter (only some of it was baby weight). And I start back to the gym next week to work back up to running. My office opened a gym while I was on maternity leave :)

Current: somewhere around 180.
Goal: 135.

Hey L - Welcome!! Enjoy the gym on Monday. I know a lot of people who swear by WW, and here, it is okay if you want to post changes for a little while if you can't face the big number. I couldn't face it last year until I started checking in here. Good luck!

Good morning ladies!! My current weight is 156. I would like to get down to about 130.

What are you ladies doing to lose weight? I am calorie counting & thinking about WW. Also, going to add some exercise in when I can.

Audrey, you and I can be buddies. I remember when I had a metabolism but I don't now!!

I want to lose about 10 lbs in an effort to spare my aching knee and preserve my ability to dance.. now that I'm back on pointe. I resent how hard I have to work to make any progress at all.
