He's tiny and always has been. He weighs 33 pounds and is 37 inches tall. Definitely the smallest in his class by far. Weight and growth have been issues since birth. But in August, the pediatric endocrinologist finally found a failing thyroid. It was such a relief to finally have an answer to his poor growth. He's been on synthroid for three months and already grown an inch (his average was 1.5/year). I wondered if it had to do with his early delivery, like did his thryoid just not develop correctly. But from what I can find on Hashimoto's, it appears to be an autoimmune disease that is genetic. (Thryoid problems run in my husband's family). Here's hoping he'll make it to the growth chart!
